New York Judge Orders EminiFX Cryptocurrency Fraud Case Mastermind to Pay $228 Million Fine
BlockBeats News, August 20th, according to TheBlock report, in 2022, the CFTC accused New York man Eddy Alexandre and his company EminiFX of raising $59 million from thousands of users for forex and cryptocurrency trading, and misappropriating a large amount of funds. New York District Judge Valerie Caproni approved the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's motion for a default judgment this Tuesday, ordering defendants Alexandre and EminiFX to jointly and severally pay a total of approximately $228 million in restitution and return $15.0495 million in illegal gains. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York said Alexandre also faces criminal charges, has pleaded guilty, and has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
